Job Description

• Define and lead the communications strategy for Guardant’s product portfolio, spanning early development through launch and lifecycle updates. • Serve as a trusted advisor to product, oncology, and executive leadership teams on messaging, media strategy, and visibility opportunities. • Establish clear KPIs to measure impact and continuously evolve strategy based on insights and outcomes. • Translate complex scientific, technical, and clinical concepts into clear, compelling narratives tailored for diverse audiences—patients, providers, investors, employees, media, and industry influencers. • Develop core product positioning that highlights innovation, value, and patient impact across channels. • Ensure consistency and clarity of voice across all product communications. • Partner with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Technology, Commercial, Regulatory Affairs, and Public Affairs to align messaging across the product portfolio. • Collaborate with Internal Communications and People teams to engage employees and connect them to product milestones. • Build strong relationships with external agencies, media, and industry partners to amplify Guardant’s leadership story. • Oversee multi-channel content creation, including press releases, web content, FAQs, social media, video, and thought leadership assets. • Lead communication planning for key product milestones such as launches, clinical trial readouts, regulatory approvals, and partnerships. • Manage agency partners, communications budgets, and internal resources to deliver high-impact, timely results. • Monitor competitive activity, market dynamics, and industry events to proactively identify opportunities to strengthen Guardant’s reputation.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Life Sciences, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in corporate or product communications, preferably within healthcare, biotech, diagnostics, or medical technology.
  • Deep experience leading communications strategy for scientific or healthcare products — with an expertise in oncology preferred.
  • Strong grasp of healthcare industry dynamics and ability to navigate communications around clinical data, regulatory milestones, value, and patient impact.
  • Proven ability to partner with senior executives and cross-functional leaders to shape strategy and influence decision-making.
  • Exceptional storytelling, writing, and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and messaging across audiences and platforms.
  • Experience with issues management, media relations, and executive communications.
  • Confident, collaborative leader with a track record of managing and mentoring teams.
  • Strategic thinker who is proactive, agile, and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
