Job Description

Product Manager

About the Role
We’re looking for a Product Manager to help shape the future of Kuali’s core product offerings.

As a Product Manager, you will understand the unique needs of faculty, administrators, and staff and translate those insights into thoughtful product direction. You will lead cross-functional teams, collaborate across Kuali, and deliver iterative value to our higher education customers.

This role can be remote, or in our Lehi, UT office

Who are we?
Kuali builds software solutions for higher education. We help our customers — colleges and universities — focus on providing a fantastic education to students by decreasing their administrative costs. We work in a competitive space, ripe for innovation, with users ready to be delighted. We are poised for high growth.

Our Culture
As a company, we are guided by our cultural values:
  • Iterate to evolve
  • Cultivate openness
  • Act with accountability
  • Assume the best
  • Practice humility
  • Deliver amazing experiences
  • Drive outcomes
At Kuali, we learn from and teach each other, we practice transparency and empathy, we delight in delivering value to our customers, and we WIN!

We’ve embraced distributed work for years—it’s part of who we are. Many of our employees work remotely across the U.S., from Massachusetts to Seattle, while others collaborate in person at our office locations. We’re intentional about creating a healthy, connected culture no matter where you work.

What you’ll be responsible for
  • Developing a deep understanding of customers and users — and the workflows they rely on — to inform product strategy, design, and development.
  • Defining, planning, and prioritizing product features and initiatives to support customer needs, business objectives, and long-term product vision.
  • Leading and motivating an uncommonly talented and passionate team of designers and developers to deliver value iteratively.
  • Partnering with marketing to help shape product positioning, messaging, and go-to-market efforts that drive awareness and demand.
  • Partnering with sales to respond to RFPs and helping prospective customers understand current product capabilities and our product roadmap.
  • Learning from, and educating others about, competitor products and evolving regulations in the research administration space.
  • Helping customers be successful in their rollouts, adoption, and continued use of our products.
About you
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who will contribute to a team culture built on trust and mutual respect. We believe the best results are achieved by teams who represent a broad range of ideas and perspectives. We value employees with diverse backgrounds and experiences. You may be a great fit for this role if:
  • You align with Kuali’s values: You are excited to contribute to an environment that reflects them.
  • You are detail-oriented: You have an amazing attention to detail and take pride in delivering high-quality work.
  • You are an amazing communicator: You are a great listener and your communication is clear, concise, and tailored to your audience. You possess strong editing skills.
  • You are organized, communicative, and accountable: You have excellent organization and prioritization skills. You own your role entirely, while being open to feedback, suggestions, edits, and new ideas.
  • You are self-motivated and eager to grow: You have a thirst for knowledge, especially within higher education. You are proactive and your enthusiasm shows.
  • You are resourceful and solution-oriented: When faced with a problem, you work to solve it with tact, persistence, and urgency.
  • You are adaptable and curious: You know how to gather information from multiple sources — customers, teammates, and competitors — and synthesize it into a clear direction. You adapt well to different people and personalities.
  • You multitask effectively: You’re comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines, even when timelines shift.
  • You are team-oriented and thrive in remote environments: You love being helpful and supportive, and you thrive on the successes of the team. You’re comfortable being part of a fully remote team, and you maintain a home working environment that sets you up for success.
We'd be delighted if you bring experience with:
  • Working at a SaaS company that provides solutions for higher education.
  • Partnering with higher education institutions or other organizations that rely on State or Federal funding and/or to simplify complex academic workflows.
  • Driving adoption of enterprise software across diverse stakeholders (faculty, administrators, compliance officers).
  • Translating complex regulatory requirements into user-friendly product designs.
  • Leading usability studies or customer research that shaped product direction.
We have two positions available within Kuali, we understand these are large areas of expertise and we do not expect you to be an expert in both!  Please don’t hesitate to apply if either category fits your skillset.

Research
  • Research administration systems, grant management platforms, or compliance-focused software.
  • Working in a Grant Management or Compliance office.
Academic Operations
  • Student information systems (SIS), curriculum management platforms, or accreditation tools.
  • Designing or supporting systems that improve faculty, staff, and student experiences.
Perks
  • Flexible remote work with no expectation of returning to an office setting
  • A truly exceptional benefits package including full premium coverage for employee and dependent medical and dental care
  • 401(k) matching
  • Paid Maternity/Parental leave
  • Flexible PTO — no accrual limits, no ‘use it or lose it.’ Just work with your manager to make sure the team’s covered, and take the time you need to recharge.
  • Encouragement and support in learning and improving your skill-sets
  • A recognition platform to reward your contributions with meaningful incentives
  • Company retreats to connect, recharge, and collaborate
Kuali has been voted a top place to work for 9 years in a row by the Salt Lake Tribune. In 2024 TIME Magazine honored us by naming Kuali to their list of the World’s Top EdTech Companies, ranking us #99 overall and #37 in the US.

At Kuali, we embrace diversity and inclusion at every level. We value and respect individuals from all backgrounds, recognizing that a rich tapestry of experiences and perspectives fuels our success as a company and enriches our collective human experience.
