Job Description
Caring Across Generations’ Care Fellowship brings together caregivers and care recipients in a 4-month leadership journey of shared learning and community building. Fellows contribute their lived experience and wisdom while gaining new tools to shape the future of care.
Together, we’re creating spaces where care champions can explore their unique paths to strengthen our movement - whether through creative expression, community organizing, policy change, or other forms of impact that speak to their vision.
Each awardee receives a one-time award of $1,500 in thanks for participation in the four (4)-month Fellowship program. Applications are due by 5 pm EST, May 27th!
Caring Across Generations’ Care Fellowship, established in 2019, operates nationally and is concentrated in cohorts across four key states: California, Georgia, Illinois, and Michigan. If you are not in one of our key states, you will automatically be considered for our national cohort. The leadership development is introductory and focuses on learning skills in storytelling, culture change work, organizing and advocacy.
The Care Fellowship is a unique opportunity to learn, share, grow, and co-create a community with other Care Fellows throughout each state.
- Program timeline: This program kicks off in August and will end in November, with an orientation in July.
- Who can apply? Any caregiver or care recipient in the United States (including the District of Columbia) is encouraged to apply! This program is not intended for those who are solely paid care workers (CNA’s, Nannies, etc.), unless they are also caring for a family member.
- What is expected from Fellows? Fellows will meet twice a month during the evening (5:30pm - 8pm in your local time zone) via Zoom for two-and-a-half hours. (Check out the dates on our website for the cohort you would be interested in applying for). Fellows will be working in teams or individually to complete capstone projects. The program will require about 60 hours of your time over the course of 4 months.
In this program, Care Fellows will:
- Learn how to talk about care with confidence to lawmakers, community members, and other advocates.
- Learn the basics of organizing their communities and advocating for care with confidence to lawmakers, community members, and other advocates.
- Learn the basics of organizing their communities and advocating for care online and in-person.
- Hear from and receive mentorship from policy, communication, digital, and campaign experts on the latest on care.
- Explore how storytelling, art, and culture can be powerful tools for shifting narratives and changing the way our society values care.
- Be connected to a cohort of 100 current Fellows and over 400 former Fellows - many of whom are current and caregivers and care recipients.
When completing your application, be sure to include as many helpful details about your care experience as possible. We want to get to know you! You are the expert on your own life. We want to learn about why you feel you would benefit from this program, and what you will bring to the program.
We welcome all people to apply to the Caring Across Generations Care Fellowship program. We strongly encourage those most deeply impacted by care issues, including but not limited to family caregivers (chosen and biological), paid care workers (who are also caring for family members), people with disabilities, immigrants, Black, Indigenous, and people of color, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and people across all ages, geographies, and lived experiences!
This application is your opportunity to share what makes you you, with our team. We encourage you to include as much detail as you’d like—no detail is too small. Your lived experience matters, and you are the expert on your own story. We can’t wait to read it! Applications for the 2026 cohort are open now and will close on May 27th at 5pm EST.
We look forward to getting to know you, and if you have any questions for our team, we invite you to reach out to us at fellowship@caringacross.org.
With care,
