How you'll make an impact
Position Summary
The Quality Automation Lead will serve as the primary architect of our enterprise data integrity and validation strategy. This role focuses on building automated, defense‑in‑depth testing solutions to ensure our insurance data remains accurate, consistent, and trusted across all BI and reporting platforms. The individual will develop scalable ETL and data‑pipeline validation frameworks, lead complex data migration reconciliations, and drive UAT readiness to maintain a reliable, enterprise‑wide single source of truth.
Self-motivated in handling multiple assignments across cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead QA Automation strategy and execution for ETL/DWH, data migration, and BI/reporting initiatives.
- Establish best practices for automated testing, data quality frameworks, and continuous validation processes.
- Mentor and guide QA engineers, ensuring high-quality deliverables and best practices.
- Work closely with Data Engineering, Product Owners, and Business stakeholders to define testing approaches and quality standards.
- Drive continuous improvement in QA processes, automation, and data validation frameworks.
ETL / Data Warehouse Testing
- Design, implement, and maintain automated frameworks for validating ETL workflows, data lakes, and data warehouse processes.
- Validate data transformations, aggregations, business rules, and lineage across multi‑layered architectures.
- Perform comprehensive data profiling, schema validation, and quality rule testing thru Automation.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency across large‑scale datasets and integrated systems.
- Integrate automated checks into orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
Data Migration Testing
- Lead high‑visibility data migration and system conversion validation initiatives.
- Define and execute reconciliation strategies across source and target systems to ensure zero‑defect migration outcomes.
- Drive cross-functional resolution of data discrepancies and mapping issues.
Reporting & BI Testing
- Validate end‑to‑end data flows supporting enterprise BI and reporting platforms.
- Perform report‑to‑data source validation for dashboards, operational reports, and analytical applications.
- Certify UAT readiness with structured data validation, defect management, and sign‑off processes.
Technical Quality Engineering
- Build and maintain automated testing frameworks for data pipelines, transformations, APIs, and reporting assets.
- Implement automation testing integrated with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
- Collaborate with engineering teams to embed test hooks, automated checkpoints, and validation steps in data pipelines.
- Set up continuous testing and monitoring for ETL, batch, streaming, and event‑driven data flows.
- Implement governance‑aligned quality checks using tools such as Collibra for metadata and lineage validation.
Project & Delivery Support
- Lead QA automation planning and estimation coordination for data engineering, BI, and analytics projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, product owners, and engineering leads to define testing scope, timelines, and deliverables.
- Ensure on‑time delivery of testing milestones through proactive risk identification, mitigation planning, and issue resolution.
- Support Agile ceremonies and coordinate test planning, execution, and reporting.
About You
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience
- 6 + years of experience with a strong focus on data-centric testing.
- Proven experience testing ETL processes, data warehouses, data lakes, and complex data transformations.
- Hands on experience with automation tools for Data testing (e.g., Selenium, Query Surge, Datagaps, ACCELQ, python scripts).
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.
Technical Skills
- Automation Tools : Selenium, QuerySurge, Datagaps, ACCELQ, and other test automation frameworks.
- CI/CD Integration : Hands‑on experience embedding automated tests into CI/CD workflows (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab).
- Data Engineering & Scripting : Strong query skills : Python, PySpark/Spark, SQL, shell scripting.
- Good to have experience with Modern Data Stack:
- DBT - transformation testing and data modeling.
- Collibra - governance, metadata quality, and lineage verification.
- Apache Airflow - workflow automation and test‑integrated ETL orchestration.
- Experience across data lakes, warehouses, marts, and semantic layers.
- BI report and dashboard validation across enterprise reporting tools.
- Experience with data migration testing (legacy to modern systems or cloud).
- Strong understanding of insurance domain datasets—policy, commissions, premiums, claims, billing etc.
- Exposure to data quality frameworks, metadata management, and MDM principles.
- Experience validating BI reports (Power BI, Tableau).
- Familiarity with cloud DWH platforms (Snowflake, Azure Synapse, BigQuery).
- Experience with performance testing (e.g., JMeter, Load Runner) is a plus.
Soft Skills
- Strong leadership abilities and a collaborative mindset.
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- QA or testing certifications (ISTQB, CSTE, CSQE, etc.).
- Experience with AI/ML‑based testing tools.
- Understanding of compliance standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc.).
