Role Description
eBay, Inc. seeks MTS 1, Network Engineering in San Jose, CA.
What you will accomplish:
- Mitigate network related issues that can possibly impact eBay’s customer experience.
- Execute basic changes in the network infrastructure to instrument organic growth and capacity restore.
- Provide level 2 and 3 network engineering expertise for critical outage response resolution.
- Create change requests as per standard/manual operating procedures (SOP/MOP) for incident and problem management.
- Handle eBay’s datacenter, backbone, Internet connectivity, security controls, traffic management, and application stacks behaviors to cross correlate and solve issues quickly and effectively.
- Create network automation tools to mitigate outages and remediate to increase the availability of the network.
- Collaborate with various customer teams to support tasks such as provisioning and deployment of new networking devices and decommissioning legacy devices.
- Utilize experience and technical expertise in OSI network model, routing and switching protocols and tools to provide training to level 1 engineers.
- Plan, schedule, and implement network maintenance activities which include firmware upgrades, network infrastructure augment/changes, and hardware tech refresh.
- Implement various network protocols such as ARP, DHCP, DNS, TFTP, OSPF, BGP during troubleshooting and design.
- Research and plan on implementing new technologies to increase network resiliency to account for traffic utilization growth.
- Create root cause analysis, post-mortem reviews, and develop long term fix action plans for incidents that impact network availability to business.
- Telecommuting permitted – work may be performed from anywhere in the US.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering (any field), or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering (any field) or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

- Switching Protocols: VLAN, VTP, RSTP, LAN, and WAN (2 years)
Benefits
- Salary: $169,262-222,100.00 per annum.
- 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience.
- The total compensation package may include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable).
