Role Description
The Remote Simulation Instructor is responsible for implementing and evaluating simulation-based educational activities for nursing programs. This role collaborates with simulation managers and director to integrate evidence-based simulation practices into the curriculum and improve student outcomes. The Remote Simulation Instructor also assists with scenario development, ensures that simulation activities align with academic goals, and accreditation standards.
- Facilitate and guide students through simulation activities, ensuring they understand the objectives and expectations.
- Lead pre-briefing and debriefing sessions, utilizing best practices to promote reflective learning and critical thinking.
- Provide feedback to students based on performance during simulations, focusing on clinical decision-making, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Stay current with trends and best practices in simulation-based education and healthcare simulation technology.
- Explore and implement innovative simulation techniques, such as virtual reality, augmented reality, or hybrid simulation models.
- Identify and address student learning needs during simulation activities and work with faculty to offer additional learning resources.
- Participate in the development and revision of simulation policies and procedures to enhance quality and safety.
- Participate in meetings, committees, and working groups focused on the integration and development of simulation in education.
- Work with institutional leadership to ensure compliance with accreditation standards related to simulation education.
- Other duties as deemed necessary.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in nursing required.
- Certification in simulation education (such as CHSE or CHSOS) is preferred.
- Multistate RN License.
- Minimum of 2 years hands-on nursing experience.
- Experience in healthcare simulation required.
- Strong clinical background and understanding of healthcare protocols and practices.
- Effective professional communication skills (verbal, written, and electronic).
- Effectively works in a team environment.
- Strong technical skills needed to effectively deliver content to students remotely.
- Evening or weekend work may be needed to accommodate simulation scheduling.
