Role Description
The Senior Director, Platform Quality & Architecture is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, security, and architectural integrity of ScriptMed, a SaaS-based specialty pharmacy platform. This role leads global (onshore/offshore) Agile teams accountable for validating the platform through manual quality assurance and automated testing and manages a team of architects specializing in database, cloud, and security architecture. The Senior Director partners closely with Product, Engineering, Security, and Operations to establish quality standards, reduce delivery risk, and support compliance requirements applicable to healthcare technology.
Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy:
- Define and execute the platform Quality Engineering and Architecture strategy aligned to business goals, product roadmap, and customer commitments.
- Build and lead high-performing global teams, including team structure, staffing plans, career development, and performance management.
- Establish operating cadences and cross-functional governance (e.g., release readiness, defect triage, architecture reviews) to ensure accountability and transparency.

Platform Quality Engineering:
- Own the end-to-end testing and validation approach for ScriptMed, including functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, and non-functional testing.
- Develop and scale automated test capabilities (UI, API, service/integration tests) integrated into CI/CD pipelines to improve speed and reliability.
- Define and enforce quality standards and practices (definition of done, quality gates, test sign-off criteria, defect management).
- Implement environment and test data strategies to enable repeatable testing across multiple tenants and deployment environments.
- Establish metrics and reporting to drive continuous improvement (e.g., escaped defects, defect trends, automation coverage, cycle time, release readiness).

Platform Architecture (Database, Cloud, Security):
- Manage and develop an architecture team responsible for database, cloud, and security architecture domains.
- Establish and govern architecture standards, reference patterns, and design review processes that support scalability, resiliency, and secure operation.
- Partner with Engineering and Operations to improve non-functional requirements, including performance, availability, capacity planning, and disaster recovery posture.
- Ensure architectural alignment for internal services and external integrations across the specialty pharmacy ecosystem.

Risk, Compliance, and Controls:
- Partner with Security and Compliance stakeholders to ensure platform validation and architecture practices support applicable regulatory requirements and internal controls.
- Ensure testing evidence, documentation, and change management practices support audit readiness and risk management objectives.
- Drive incorporation of security testing and vulnerability management practices into the SDLC and release processes.

Stakeholder Partnership & Communication:
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Security, Operations, and Implementation/Client Success to align priorities and reduce delivery and operational risk.
- Provide executive-level updates on platform quality, architectural risks, and remediation plans, including recommendations and progress against goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, quality engineering, platform engineering, and/or architecture.
- 5+ years of experience leading managers and multi-team organizations, including global/distributed teams.
- Demonstrated experience establishing and scaling Quality Engineering practices for SaaS platforms, including manual QA and test automation.
- Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum delivery and experience partnering with Product and Engineering leaders to deliver outcomes.
- Working knowledge of architecture disciplines and governance, with experience managing technical leaders across database, cloud, and security.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare technology, pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, or other regulated environments.
- Familiarity with compliance and control frameworks applicable to healthcare and enterprise SaaS (e.g. HIPAA/HITECH, SOC 2, HITRUST, PCI where applicable).
- Experience implementing test automation at scale and integrating quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architectures, environment strategy, and tenant-aware testing approaches.
- Experience with performance, reliability, and security testing practices and tooling.
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent experience).
- Master’s degree preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Sedentary work (i.e., sitting for long periods of time).
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force.
- Frequently or constantly lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling objects and repetitive motions.
- Subject to inside environmental conditions.
- Travel up to 20% (adjust as needed for business requirements).
