Role Description

CopperPoint has an exciting opportunity for a Development Operations Engineer to support and improve the build, deployment, and operational stability of core insurance platforms, with a primary focus on the Guidewire Insurance Suite. In this role, you will manage CI/CD pipelines, coordinate environment refreshes, and support production deployments to ensure reliable and compliant environments. This position plays a key role in maintaining environment stability and deployment consistency across Guidewire PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, and ClaimCenter. The ideal candidate is hands-on, operationally focused, and works closely with development, QA, and release teams to keep environments stable and automation driven. This is a remote role with availability required during Phoenix business hours.

  • Build, enhance, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support reliable and repeatable software deployments.
  • Support branching strategies, build operations, and release workflows using Git-based version control.
  • Coordinate and execute production and non-production deployments, including script parameter updates and administrative data changes.
  • Manage, enhance and monitor automated deployments, performing ad-hoc deployments in lower environments when required.
  • Plan and execute Guidewire environment refreshes, including pre-refresh validation, post-refresh verification, and coordination with dependent teams.
  • Manage environment usage across projects and backlog teams, including:
    • Recommending changes to existing environments
    • Identifying when new environments are required
    • Assisting with environment setup once provisioned
    • Tracking and managing Guidewire planned credits
  • Ensure Guidewire environments remain compliant with Guidewire standards, including recommending patch releases and compliance updates.
  • Monitor environment health, deployments, logs, and alerts to support system stability and deployment reliability.
  • Assist with maintaining server-based environments, including OS patching, configuration hygiene, and lifecycle management using automation where possible.
  • Support basic cloud cost awareness efforts, particularly for non-production environments, by identifying unused resources and recommending optimization opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with development, QA, and product teams to ensure smooth integration and delivery cycles.
  • Ensure compliance with company security policies and Guidewire security requirements.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in DevOps, build/release engineering, or environment management roles.
  • Hands-on experience supporting the Guidewire Insurance Suite (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter).
  • Strong experience with Git-based version control and branching workflows.
  • Experience working with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or TeamCity.
  • Solid scripting skills (Shell, Python, and/or PowerShell).
  • Familiarity with containerized deployments (Docker).
  • Working knowledge of SDLC concepts and release management processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work during Phoenix, AZ business hours (8a–5p GMT-7).

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience with Guidewire DevOps or deployment tooling.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Familiarity with Jira or similar release planning tools.
  • Exposure to serverless technologies (e.g., AWS Lambda) is a plus but not required.

Salary Range

$90,000.00 - $120,000.00 annually. Compensation may vary depending on skills, experience, education, and geographical location. In addition to base salary, compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.
