Job Description
 
This is a full-time position with the ideal candidate being based in the Pacific or Mountain time zones, can be 100% remote, in an office or hybrid. As an individual contributor working within a team, the Payroll Specialist will ensure accurate record keeping of timesheets and perform a variety of payroll tasks. The successful candidate will be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, able to handle confidential information, and have the ability to collaborate with others and provide excellent customer service.

Pay Range: $25-$27
 
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll and ERP systems; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information
  • Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, and other deductions
  • Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to unexpected events and employment separations
  • Ensures timesheets are accurate with respect to overtime and entry allocation
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
  • Previous experience processing payroll for organizations with 500+ employees
  • Experience with Paycor, or similar HR/Payroll systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (with advanced MS Excel)
  • Ability to work overtime, especially during payroll weeks (every other week)
  • Proficient with, or the ability to quickly learn, payroll and ERP software
  • Knowledge of overtime laws (state-specific and federal)
  • Experience with CA wage and hour regulations
  • Experience managing multi-state tax jurisdictions and reciprocity agreements to ensure accurate payroll withholding.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in the A/E/C industry
  • Experience with Sage Intacct
  • Experience with implementation of larger HRIS/HCM/Payroll systems such as UKG and Workday
  • Experience with international payroll
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with SCA contract administration and prevailing wage laws.
