Role Description
Redwood Strategy Group, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Budget Analyst (Business and Analytics Analyst) to join their team supporting an Obligations Clearing House (OCH), processing obligating documents daily; validating funding data elements; updating accounting systems; and submitting transactions in DAI for approval. Ensures accuracy, timeliness, and data integrity of all obligation transactions.
- Utilizes automation and interface systems to identify outstanding documents, track discrepancies, and coordinate resolution with technical offices and Comptroller analysts.
- Maintains complete obligation files for audit purposes and escalates unresolved discrepancies in accordance with established timelines.
Position is a remote position.
Secret Clearance (minimum, interim secret) required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field (OR)
- An additional four (4) years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for the degree.
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience supporting financial management, accounting, or budget execution activities within a federal or DoD environment.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing financial data, validating funding documents, and maintaining accurate accounting records.
- Experience working with automated financial systems and databases, including data validation, reconciliation, and audit support.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience coordinating across multiple stakeholders (e.g., program offices, analysts, and leadership).
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing obligation processing, funds validation, or transaction control functions within DoD financial systems.
- Hands-on experience with Defense Agencies Initiative (DAI) or comparable DoD ERP/accounting systems.
- Experience processing, reviewing, and validating obligating documents; identifying discrepancies; and coordinating corrective actions to resolution.
- Solid understanding of Fiscal Law - purpose, time, and amount.
- Demonstrated ability to meet strict processing timelines (e.g., 48-hour processing requirements); and support compliance with financial management rules such as the Ten-Day Rule.
- Experience maintaining auditable financial documentation and supporting audit readiness efforts.
