Role Description

This position is responsible for leading, overseeing, and completing all engineering aspects of major capital projects related to the design, development, and execution of natural gas facilities. The Engineer is expected to work independently in completing their tasks as well as ensuring the tasks of other team members affecting design are on track.

  • Coordinate with project team members and third-party contract resources.
  • Oversee design-related investments and improvements to the company’s infrastructure.
  • Use various programs to track design progress, size equipment, order material, and report to management on significant variances in estimated budget and/or schedules.
  • Perform engineering tasks and projects by relying on established guidelines and specifications.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct and business ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and oversees all engineering aspects of major capital projects.
  • Supervises the work of internal/external resources to ensure quality and quantity of work.
  • Provide mechanical engineering design deliverables, including but not limited to:
    • Project scopes and estimates
    • Design forms
    • Project construction workspace drawings
    • Easement exhibits
    • Site layouts
    • Mechanical construction drawings
    • Fabrication drawings
  • Size, specify, and order all mechanical equipment and materials for various natural gas projects.
  • Collaborate with Business Development, Customer Solutions, and Legal to develop contractual agreements.
  • Provide mechanical engineering technical support, troubleshooting, and problem solving for operating issues.
  • Review, develop and implement Company design standards and specifications.
  • Research and analyze technical data, industry specifications and standards, and vendor manuals.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of relevant technologies.
  • Participate in Company and industry studies and projects to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Serve as Company liaison at community events and help with volunteer efforts.
  • Provide general guidance and direction to others based on design experiences.
  • Serve as a mentor, coach, or trainer for less experienced engineers.
  • Represent management in coordinating activities and communicating technical policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a Company subject matter expert for specific natural gas engineering field(s).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or civil engineering (or a relevant engineering discipline) from an ABET – Accredited Engineering Program.
  • 8 years of experience in design engineering or a related field.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability.
  • Ability to work in both an open office environment as well as outside in varied weather conditions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Well organized, strong problem-solving skills, highly analytical and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and produce results under tight deadlines.
  • Strong focus on safe work practices.
  • Experience in a mentoring, coaching, and/or training role.
  • Knowledge of Federal regulations and Industry standards.
  • Experience with material components of natural gas pipeline systems.
  • Experience in the design and construction of natural gas compression facilities.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively prioritize in a demanding, high stress environment while remaining positive.
  • Travel up to 25% on average via automobile and plane.
  • A valid driver’s license and insurability under company policy are required.
