Role Description

The Instructor, Learner Resources plays a key role in providing academic support, personalized coaching, and supplemental instruction to learners across foundational education, writing, and/or math. This position supports learner success through tutoring, instructional resource development, and proactive engagement with learners in academic need. Instructors may be assigned to the Writing Center, Math Lab, foundational skills courses, or a combination of these based on institutional needs. The role is rooted in inclusive, learner-centered practices that promote persistence, academic integrity, and growth in foundational skills necessary for success in general education and program-specific coursework.

  • Deliver one-on-one and small-group academic support sessions via virtual platforms
  • Facilitate courses in area of expertise when assigned
  • Provide targeted instruction and feedback aligned with course objectives, rubrics, and learner needs
  • Provide outreach to learners as assigned
  • Support learners across diverse linguistic, cultural, and neurodiverse backgrounds with empathy and inclusive strategies
  • Develop and maintain engaging academic support resources, including videos, handouts, and tools that can be integrated into myNightingale or the LMS
  • Monitor learner engagement, outreach to at-risk learners, and support academic improvement plans
  • Collaborate with faculty and learner success teams to identify and address learner challenges
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of sessions, communication, and learner progress
  • Participate in regular team meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions
  • Uphold academic integrity and learner-centered best practices in all instructional interactions
  • Contribute to the overall improvement of learner resources through innovation and collaboration
  • Participate in the successful implementation of other functional projects as they arise

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required
  • Demonstrated experience in higher education, preferably online education is strongly preferred

Requirements

  • All new hires are required to attend New Collaborator Orientation (NCO) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The College will cover travel, lodging, and other accommodations.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screen.

  • Budgeted Hiring Range: $59,555.91 — $67,000.40 USD
