About Us
Friends From The City is a design, research, and engineering company focused on public impact. Our mission is to make digital interactions with government simple, intuitive, and accessible. That means removing barriers like confusing user flows, inaccessible content, and language limitations that prevent people from getting what they need.
We build digital products using accessible design, rigorous research, and reliable code.
About the Role
Like most people in the United States, we count on public digital services to work when it matters. This includes enrolling in healthcare, applying for a small business loan, or renewing a driver’s license. But behind every service that works well is a team making smart, inclusive product decisions.
As a Delivery Manager at Friends, you will own delivery for a team building a high-stakes public-facing platform used at government service locations worldwide. Your role is to keep delivery on track, manage risk before it becomes a problem, and make sure the client always knows where things stand.
Job Requirements
- What you'll achieve:
- You'll own delivery for a platform that manages appointments at government service locations worldwide. That means keeping a distributed team moving, protecting sprint velocity, and making sure the client always knows where things stand. Day to day, you'll:
- Own delivery across a hybrid team of designers, researchers, and engineers working in two-week sprints
- Manage relationships with government Contracting Officer's Representatives
- Prepare and submit required contract deliverables on time: Program Management Plan, Weekly Activity Reports, Monthly Contract Status Reports, Transition-In Plan
- Run agile ceremonies and keep the backlog healthy in coordination with the Product Manager
- Track risks, dependencies, and blockers across three teaming partners
- Coordinate security clearance onboarding for all personnel
- Serve as the day-to-day escalation point between the contractor team and government stakeholders
- Skills You’ll Need to Bring:
- We are looking for a strategic thinker and empathetic leader who is committed to accessibility and knows how to move work forward. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of the following:
- 5 to 7 years managing delivery on software development teams
- Fluency in agile delivery: you run tight ceremonies, write clear status reports, and know when to escalate
- Experience managing subcontractor relationships and teaming agreements
- Familiarity with FAR-based contract administration: CLINs, invoicing, deliverable tracking
- Ability to obtain a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) clearance
- Calm under pressure; you remove blockers without hiding problems from the client
- Nice To Haves:
- These are not required, but we would love to know if you have:
- Prior federal agency or consular operations experience
- Experience coordinating cloud platform onboarding with a government infrastructure team
- Experience supporting global rollouts with phased, location-by-location deployment
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline or equivalent experience. 5+ years of relevant experience preferred. Whether or not you check every box, we encourage you to apply if the role and mission excite you.
