This position will be responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling the sales of assigned brands to optimize profit and meet sales, financial, and corporate growth by performing the duties listed within. Territory: CA, OR, WA, AZ, NV, UT, ID, WY, MT (HI, AK)
- The position of Technical Sales Manager requires 50-60% travel

Core duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Learn all products including technical knowledge and application expertise
- Responsible for the sales of company’s products and services in their designated territory
- Actively manage multiple sales projects in cooperation with Business Development Managers, engineers and service
- Travel planning and visiting multiple customers given week
- Create opportunities through farming and hunting activities. Prospecting including research and “cold calling” customers is required to grow the region
- Create quotes or provide information detailed enough for sales support to create a quote
- Keep Salesforce updated on a weekly basis including project forecast
- Provide reports to management upon request
- Being the main point of contact for all customers
- Work with service as needed to ensure systems are operational
- Utilize existing marketing tools including data sheets, videos and presentations. Modify or create materials as needed for projects
- Close orders in Salesforce and help the internal team with all order data
- Attend and participate in weekly sales meetings
- Create and monitor annual personal goals
- Create an annual forecast for the territory and work to exceed that goal
- Drives specifications of our products and services
Qualifications
- Ten years experience of related capital equipment sales in the targeted industries
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific, drawings and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
- Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
Requirements
- College or university program certificate; bachelor’s degree in science or engineering is preferred
- Self-driven – Able to self-motivate to achieve company and personal goals; able to make a plan and deliver on objectives
- Customer Service - Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; responds promptly to customer needs; solicits customer feedback to improve service; responds to requests for service and assistance; meets commitments
- Interpersonal Skills - Focuses on solving conflict, not blaming; maintains confidentiality; listens to others without interrupting; keeps emotions under control; remains open to others' ideas and tries new things
- Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; participates in meetings
- Written Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; varies writing style to meet needs; presents numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information

- Consultative selling – must understand and use value based selling techniques
Work Environment
- Work is performed in an office environment
- Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and talking
- Frequently requires standing, fine dexterity, sitting, and handling
- Occasionally requires walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, bending, and crouching
- Driving, air/rail travel
- Typical on-site activities will be in manufacturing plants, food processing plants, chemical laboratories, and universities where personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required while on-site
- While performing customer on-site visits, the employee is regularly required to: stand, sit, talk, hear, climb ladders and cat-walks, and use hands and fingers to operate computers and analytical equipment
