Role Description
STGi is recruiting for an Occupational Medicine Physician - Reviewing Medical Officer (RMO) for the Medical Employability Program (MEP) for Federal Occupational Health Services (FOH) in Rockville, MD and/or Nationwide/Remote.
The Reviewing Medical Officer (RMO) in the Medical Employability Program (MEP) provides consultative reviews for federal agencies requesting a formal written medical opinion on cases involving:
- Reasonable Accommodation
- FMLA
- Federal loan forgiveness
- Fitness for duty or return to work evaluations
- Handicapped parking requests
- Advanced Sick Leave
The RMO is a board-certified physician with significant experience in the field of occupational and environmental medicine and knowledge of federal laws governing the listed case types. The RMO works independently but provides consultation, training, and collaboration for other team members to ensure the quality of reviews and a high level of customer service.

- Participates in preparation for TJC accreditation, as requested
- Maintains all medical records securely according to TJC standards
- Maintains appointment to medical staff and privileges for all services assigned according to FOH Credentialing and Privileging policy
- Maintains board-certification and licenses to practice medicine in accordance with professional societies and state regulations
- Participates in FOH peer review process as requested
- Assists in establishing and participates in performing continuous quality improvement assessments of the various examination types that are reviewed in MEP
- Performs various types of occupational medical reviews, as assigned
- Provides medical content of written and oral consultation determinations and recommendations to the customer with 100 percent accuracy
- Demonstrates the ability to convey expert medical opinions and advice using excellent communication skills
- Supports the medical and consultative needs for one (1) or more Federal agencies
- Performs a mixture of administrative, clinical, and consultant responsibilities depending on the specific assignments and the needs of FOH in completing a case
- Demonstrates a strong level of technical expertise in occupational and primary care medicine
- May be required to conduct hands-on examinations (if so privileged by FOH)
- Provides consultation with local emergency management on program needs/development
- May be asked to provide occupational and environmental medicine related presentations to Federal agency employee groups
- Provides expert witness testimony as needed related to case reviews performed
