Role Description
As a Business Analyst II, you will serve as a key liaison between business partners and Information Technology, ensuring business needs are clearly defined, analyzed, tested, and delivered effectively. You will help drive operational efficiency by translating business requirements into technical solutions and supporting testing and implementation efforts.
This role works closely with cross-functional teams across business and IT to improve systems, streamline workflows, and support strategic initiatives. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, collaborative, adaptable, and passionate about continuous improvement within the insurance and financial services industry.
What You'll Do
- Partner with business units and IT teams to gather, clarify, and document business and system requirements
- Analyze business processes, system issues, and change requests; recommend practical, effective solutions
- Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to coordinate system updates and enhancements
- Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and testing strategies to ensure solutions meet business requirements
- Support project planning activities, including defining test objectives, tracking progress, and coordinating testing efforts
- Investigate and resolve production processing issues to improve efficiency and workflow
- Assist in training end users and new employees on system processes and procedures
- Contribute to team and company goals by fostering collaboration and a positive, inclusive work environment
- Take initiative on additional responsibilities that support departmental and organizational objectives
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, or a related field preferred
Requirements
- Business analyst experience required based on education level:
- High School Diploma: 6+ years
- Associate’s Degree: 4+ years
- Bachelor’s Degree: 2+ years
- Minimum 2 years of experience in insurance or financial services required
- Experience with life insurance or annuity business processes and insurance systems preferred
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience supporting Agile teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
- Experience developing and executing test plans and test cases
- Ability to translate complex business needs into clear documentation and technical requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Self-motivated, organized, and accountable with a strong sense of ownership
- Ability to build effective working relationships across departments
- Willingness to learn new systems, tools, and processes
Physical Requirements
- Primarily seated work with continuous use of hands for fine manipulation (e.g., typing)
- Frequent talking, hearing, and seeing
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally
- Moderate stress level consistent with project-based work environments
