Role Description

We are seeking a candidate with Texas Civil Litigation experience to join the team!

  • Performs legal and secretarial tasks for assigned attorney(s), with supervision and oversight from their leader.
  • Maintains schedules and calendar for assigned attorney(s).
  • Composes a variety of correspondence, pleadings and various legal forms.
  • Coordinates time and location of multi-party appearances, including depositions, arbitrations, mediations, Independent Medical Exams (IME’s), meetings, and site inspections.
  • Answers telephone calls, emails, and handles client inquiries.
  • Receives and processes incoming mail.
  • Contacts clients, witnesses, court reporters, interpreters, claims personnel, and others to confirm scheduled appearances as instructed by assigned attorney(s).
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge and keeps up-to-date with court rules and legal deadlines.

Physical Actions

  • This role includes normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions.
  • Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift.
  • Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance.
  • Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
  • Visually verifies and reads information.
  • Visually locates material, resources, and other objects.
  • Ability to continuously operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift.
  • Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years experience in civil litigation as a legal administration clerk, secretary, or legal assistant required.
