Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Forensic Accountant to support complex insurance claims evaluations and litigation matters. This role involves analyzing financial data, quantifying economic damages, assessing insurance losses, and preparing clear, defensible findings for attorneys, insurers, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate financial insights clearly in both written and verbal form.
- Conduct forensic accounting investigations related to insurance claims, litigation matters, fraud allegations, and financial disputes.
- Analyze financial records, business operations, profit/loss data, and other documentation to assess damages, loss calculations, and claim validity.
- Quantify economic damages, including business interruption losses, extra expenses, inventory losses, and other insured or litigated exposures.
- Prepare detailed expert reports, financial models, summaries, and supporting analyses.
- Assist legal teams by interpreting financial data and providing litigation support, including discovery assistance and deposition preparation.
- Communicate findings to clients, attorneys, insurers, and internal leadership in a clear and concise manner.
- Testify as an expert witness when required (if applicable).
- Maintain strong documentation standards to ensure work is defensible, audit-ready, and aligned with regulatory and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including claims professionals, attorneys, adjusters, and subject matter experts.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in forensic accounting and insurance litigation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- CPA or significant experience in forensic accounting within insurance or litigation settings.
- Demonstrated experience in financial investigations, damage quantification, insurance claims analysis, or related forensic work.
- Strong proficiency in financial analysis, modeling, and investigative techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, defensible conclusions.
- High attention to detail and exceptional analytical/problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- CPA – Certified Public Accountant, preferred.
- CFF – Certified in Financial Forensics, preferred.
- CFE – Certified Fraud Examiner, preferred.
- CVA – Certified Valuation Analyst, preferred.
- ABV – Accredited in Business Valuation, preferred.
- Other relevant insurance forensic or litigation-focused certifications, preferred.
