Role Description

The Lead Mobile Diesel Technician will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. Achieve mastery in the majority of technical disciplines. Heavily relied upon for customer interaction and communication. Mentor and teach other Technicians in the field.

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT Inspections and follow up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to:
    • Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems
    • Starters/Alternators
    • Fan clutches
    • Engine electronics
    • Diesel steering systems
    • Engines (gas and diesel)
    • Transmissions (manual and automatic)
    • Clutches
    • Differentials
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper functionality.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on company-issued service truck.
  • Maintain and operate company-issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
  • Work with clients and customers to assess their needs and resolve problems.
  • Manage concurrent assigned tasks and prioritize work-related activities.
  • Document work performed and findings on Repair Orders (“RO”) using company-issued iOS device.
  • Communicate with management and support team regarding repair estimates and findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies.
  • Support Mobile Diesel Technicians I/II/Sr in inventory reconciliation.
  • Assist Mobile Tech Manager (MTM) with Quality Control Inspections.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED and 7 years’ experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification C1 (Service Consultant) within eighteen (18) months.
  • Obtain 608/609 certification within eighteen (18) months.
  • Must be at least 21 years or older due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Requirements

  • Safe drivers needed; valid driver’s license required.
  • Must hold a valid state-of-residence driver’s license.
  • Candidate must be able to successfully complete a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
