Job Description
Role Description
At RES, we’re looking for purpose-driven individuals who are passionate about restoration and sustainability, and who want their work to make a lasting environmental impact. Our team members go above and beyond, bringing initiative, integrity, and a strong work ethic to every project. Collaboration is key—we thrive on teamwork, open communication, and diverse perspectives. In a field that constantly changes, we value those who are resilient, adaptable, and resourceful in the face of challenges. If you're intellectually curious, eager to learn, and ready to help restore ecosystems and protect natural resources, you’ll find your place here.
We’re looking for an experienced Engineer III (Water Resources) to help us deliver stream, wetland, and stormwater restoration projects from concept through construction. This is a technical leadership role—ideal for a licensed engineer with advanced design skills, modeling proficiency, and the ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams to ensure high-quality project delivery. You’ll be based out of one of our regional offices or design hubs, working closely with engineers, scientists, and project managers across disciplines. You’ll spend most of your time on technical design and coordination, with occasional travel for site assessments, field data collection, construction oversight, and agency meetings. Remote work arrangements are possible for this role.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or ecological engineering
- PE license in the appropriate state
- 5+ years of professional experience in restoration, stormwater, or site development
- Advanced capability in stream, wetland, or stormwater management design, including feasibility studies, concept design, and restoration plans development
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and relevant modeling tools (e.g., HEC-RAS, FlowMaster, TR-55, Rivermorph, GIS, MicroStation)
- Strong understanding of stream geomorphology, hydraulics, sediment transport, and/or stormwater BMP design
- Ability to communicate directly with clients and regulatory agencies
- Comfort leading design work with minimal oversight and supporting QA/QC in the field
- Experience coordinating work within multi-disciplinary teams
Requirements
- Master’s degree in civil, environmental, or ecological engineering
- Successfully navigated multiple permitting processes across state, federal, and local agencies
- Prior experience working in diverse geographic regions and regulatory environments
- Ability to mentor and guide junior engineering staff in design and plan production
- Engineering experience in new and emerging markets
- Strong problem solving and solution development skills
Benefits
- You’ll apply advanced design skills to projects that make a lasting environmental impact
- You’ll contribute directly to permittable, buildable, field-tested solutions
- You’ll work with a talented, collaborative team who values science, innovation, and restoration
- You’ll have opportunities to mentor junior engineers and lead technical delivery
- You’ll engage with regulators and clients to help shape successful outcomes
