Job Description
Role Description
The Select Health Proactive Care Internship is designed to augment classroom learning and to prepare future healthcare leaders for opportunities upon graduation. The incumbent will work directly with members of the Select Health leadership team on a variety of high impact projects that advance Select Health’s proactive care strategy. In addition, this person will partner with a senior leader mentor, attend leadership meetings, and participate in multidisciplinary workgroups.
Some of the summer intern projects may include:
- Proactive care models and risk-based planning/operations
- Identifying and coordinating resources across Select Health and Intermountain in support of proactive care initiatives
- Working with internal stakeholders to quantify the financial value and operational requirements of proactive care initiatives
- Developing materials for external stakeholders to aid in their success under existing risk-based contracts
This position allows a student to gain work experience in a non-clinical role. The work experience and projects should be related to the student's field of study and support Select Health's mission, vision, and values. This position is temporary by nature and is anticipated to run from mid-May to mid-August 2026.
This position may be performed remotely with business travel as needed. Intermountain Health maintains employment registration in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming. Candidates in other locations may be considered. Currently, we are not hiring remote workers in the following states: CA, CT, HI, IL, NY, RI, VT, and WA. Please note that a video interview through Microsoft Teams will be required as well as potential onsite interviews and meetings.
Qualifications
- Student in business fields (Finance, Communications, Marketing, HR, legal, etc.), who is in the first two years of an undergraduate program at an accredited institution. Education is verified.
- Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and e-mail, and scheduling applications.
- Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Requirements
- Participates and is involved in a variety of projects that support the needs of the department/facility.
- Attends team/department meetings and actively participates/takes on opportunities to share knowledge and skills that are pertinent to the meeting.
- Gains knowledge of the department's/facility's functions. May job shadow various roles within the department in order to understand their role in the organization.
- Works with other members of the department/facility to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Project Assistance: May be assigned one or more specific projects during the internship. Demonstrates an understanding of the process and accountability for the results/outcomes.
- Works independently or as a member of a team to accomplish the tasks necessary to successfully complete the project.
- Involves others when needed in a timely manner and works to meet project timelines.
- Provides staff operational/clerical support to the department/facility as needed.
