Role Description
Tharseo IT is seeking a Principal Cloud Architect (Cloud Architect Level 4) to lead the design and implementation of secure, enterprise-scale cloud environments supporting federal and mission-critical workloads. This role will provide architectural leadership across cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and platform engineering initiatives while guiding engineering teams through complex modernization efforts.
The Principal Cloud Architect will work closely with technical leadership, program management, and customer stakeholders to design resilient cloud architectures that support secure, high-performance workloads. While experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is strongly preferred, candidates with significant experience across major cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure are encouraged to apply.
This role is primarily remote within the United States, with periodic travel required to support customer engagements. Certain project phases may require onsite presence in the Boston, Massachusetts area.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and design of secure, scalable cloud environments supporting enterprise workloads
- Develop reference architectures and engineering standards for cloud infrastructure deployments
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement infrastructure automation and deployment frameworks
- Guide modernization efforts involving legacy infrastructure migration to cloud environments
- Provide architectural oversight across networking, identity management, and security controls
- Ensure cloud solutions align with federal security frameworks and best practices
- Participate in technical strategy discussions with program leadership and customer stakeholders
- Review engineering designs to ensure performance, resiliency, and operational readiness
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to cloud engineers and systems engineers
- Support proposal development, technical planning, and architecture documentation as required
Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in enterprise IT infrastructure or cloud engineering
- 5+ years of experience designing large-scale cloud architectures
- Strong experience with cloud networking, security architecture, and infrastructure design
- Demonstrated experience leading architecture efforts for complex enterprise environments
- Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one
- Strong understanding of cloud security principles and federal compliance environments
- Experience designing resilient, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
- Experience supporting federal or defense-related IT programs
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP
- Experience designing multi-region or high-availability cloud architectures
- Background supporting infrastructure modernization or cloud migration initiatives
- Experience mentoring engineering teams and leading architecture reviews
