Role Description

This role is a hands-on leadership opportunity overseeing transportation operations across a dynamic, fast-paced logistics network. The Senior Manager, Transportation will lead a team responsible for:

  • Route optimization
  • Fleet management
  • Driver performance
  • Overall service reliability

You will collaborate cross-functionally with supply chain, fulfillment, technology, and customer service teams to ensure operational efficiency and a high level of customer satisfaction. The role involves:

  • Designing and maintaining scalable transportation networks
  • Implementing performance metrics
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance

About 40% of the year involves travel to on-site locations, offering a balance of remote work and field engagement. This position is ideal for a data-driven, operationally savvy leader who thrives on continuous improvement and team development.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead and manage transportation operations, including hub-and-spoke network design, fleet, and driver management.
  • Oversee delivery processes, inter-departmental transfers, and logistics software to ensure seamless operations.
  • Train and develop drivers and operations staff, promoting adherence to compliance, safety, and licensing standards.
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules to maintain vehicle reliability and longevity.
  • Monitor and measure transportation performance, identifying opportunities to streamline operations, reduce costs, and maintain high on-time delivery rates.
  • Maintain accurate records for audits, inspections, and compliance reporting.
  • Partner with vendors to ensure contracts, pricing, and service levels meet operational needs.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to maintain high customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Transportation Management, or related field preferred.
  • 7–10 years of transportation or logistics industry experience, with a solid understanding of supply chain principles.
  • Experience managing teams, coaching employees, and driving operational performance.
  • Proficiency with routing software, telematics, and fleet management systems.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret transportation data and implement improvements.
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed for on-site hiring, training, and coaching.
