Job Description

• Owning and executing regional press strategy in priority battleground districts. • Develop and execute proactive regional press strategies across assigned battleground states and districts, securing earned media for Indivisible groups' impact on key races. • Build and maintain relationships with local political reporters, editorial boards, producers, and community outlets in key turfs. • Create and maintain robust, up-to-date regional media lists. • Pitch stories that highlight Indivisible groups’ organizing, earned moments, accountability campaigns, and electoral efforts. • Draft press releases, advisories, statements, op-eds, and rapid response materials tailored to local audiences. • Pitch and support with securing local and regional podcast and new media coverage. • Monitor local political and media landscapes to identify news hooks and opportunities. • Coordinate with the National Press Secretary to elevate regional stories into national coverage when strategic. • Anticipate major moments in key districts (votes, town halls, protests, legislative fights) and ensure media presence. • Track and report on regional press metrics and qualitative impact. • Serves as the primary press contact for Indivisible groups in assigned regions. • Pitch local media directly around priority actions and campaigns in key districts. • Support local leaders in preparing for interviews, editorial board meetings, and press conferences. • Identify compelling storytellers within the movement and connect them with regional reporters. • Develop scalable guidance and simple toolkits to help groups build relationships with their local press. • Partner closely with the turf team to ensure press strategy aligns with on-the-ground organizing goals. • Maintain situational awareness of political dynamics in each priority district. • Monitor breaking news in assigned states and districts and draft timely responses. • Surface regional stories that can shape broader narrative arcs. • Contribute district-level intelligence and storylines to national messaging. • Field inquiries from local reporters and coordinate with the national team as needed.

Job Requirements

  • 4–6 years’ experience in political communications, campaigns, organizing, or journalism.
  • Strong writer who can adapt tone for local audiences while advancing a clear strategic narrative.
  • Deep understanding of how regional and local media ecosystems operate.
  • Ability to build trust quickly with grassroots leaders and reporters alike.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple districts, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced political environment with frequent rapid response demands.
  • Commitment to advancing progressive values and holding elected officials accountable.
  • Experience working in or covering battleground states or competitive House districts is desired.
  • Existing relationships with regional political reporters or editorial boards are desired.
  • Experience training spokespeople or activists for media is desired.
  • Familiarity with tracking tools, media databases, and press analytics is desired.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills relevant to priority districts are a plus.
