Job Description

• Focus on utility planning and advisory projects • Conduct transmission system planning and analysis, including studies in load flow, stability, short circuit, and electromagnetic transients (EMT) • Prepare new generator interconnection applications, including development of conceptual single line diagram and verification of compliance with reactive power requirements • Review ISO feasibility and system impact studies to provide guidance to clients, who are ISO Interconnection Customers

Job Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and sufficient industry experience is considered in lieu of an advanced degree
A minimum of 5 years relevant power systems engineering experience with utility or consultant
Experience in load flow and contingency analysis to identify transmission thermal and voltage constraints and to identify transfer capability limits
Experience using transmission planning software for load flow modeling, contingency analysis, and stability analysis using PSS/E, PSLF, TARA
Experience in stability analysis to identify critical clearing times, identify voltage constraints and analyze power system damping (valued but not required)
Experience in electromagnetic transient analysis using PSCAD (valued but not required)
Experience in short circuit analysis and using software programs CAPE or ASPEN (valued but not required)
Knowledge of power regions and ISOs/RTOs, such as: PJM, MISO, NYISO, ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, ISO-NE (valued but not required)
Experience in Python, Java Script, or other scripting languages (valued but not required)
