Job Description
The Sr. Manager, Local Media Business Operations leads financial planning, reporting, and operational analysis in support of Local Media and club media operations. This role serves as a key business partner to Production, Clubs, and MLBN Accounting/Finance, manages budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, and performance analytics to ensure accurate financial reporting and disciplined cost management. The Sr. Manager drives data-driven decision-making through variance analysis, allocation oversight, and KPI development, while identifying opportunities to improve processes, enhance reporting efficiency, and support strategic initiatives across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Manage forecasting and budgeting activities for clubs and Local Media operations.
- Prepare board-level and executive-ready presentations summarizing financial and operational performance including forecast and budget.
- Partner cross-functionally (Ad Sales, Distribution, MLBN Finance/Accounting, Production, etc.) to align operational execution with financial targets.
- Review and analyze club financial performance; identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Partner with Accounting to ensure accurate monthly close results and variance analysis versus budget and forecast, including detailed MLBN allocation analysis and team-level variance reporting.
- Build and maintain KPI dashboards to track operational and financial performance metrics.
- Identify cost optimization opportunities while maintaining operational effectiveness.
- Evaluate existing workflows and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and scalability.
- Other such duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 10+ years sports broadcast television experience.
- Must demonstrate strong leadership and people management skills, and the ability to create strong partnerships at the MLB club level
- Proven ability to understand operational finance concepts and build processes that ensure the delivery of reliable results at various levels of the organization
- Must demonstrate a passion for and deep knowledge of baseball.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess effective process managerial skills.
- Knowledge of current business software & reporting systems.
- Be extremely organized, demonstrate initiative and an ability to complete multiple assignments in a timely manner.
- Individual must work well in a dynamic environment and be able to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently and proactively, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of sports television.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule consistent with the Major League Baseball season.
- Ability to travel domestically as requested.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend, twist, turn, and climb stairs for various lengths of time.
- Possess visual acuity sufficient to perform required tasks.
- Possess manual dexterity sufficient to perform required tasks.
- Possess the auditory acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
- Must possess excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
Position Reports to:
- Sr. Director, Local Media Business Operations
Pay Range: $100,000 - $140,000
As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB Network considers relevant to the hiring decision.
