Role Description
As a Competitive Unit Cost Advisor, you will help strengthen market affordability by translating complex cost data into clear, actionable insights. You will partner closely with contracting and cross‑functional teams to understand competitive unit cost dynamics and support decisions that improve medical cost performance. This role is well‑suited for an analytical professional who is curious, collaborative, and motivated to grow their impact within a highly matrixed environment.
- Analyze competitive unit cost information using internal and external data sources, including discount data, COB information, risk‑adjusted PMPM, and other market intelligence.
- Develop and maintain reports and analyses that support Contracting and market teams in identifying affordability risks and opportunities.
- Evaluate unit cost trends versus plan assumptions by product, market, and provider to identify drivers of variance and opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with Contracting, Medical Economics, Pricing, Underwriting, and Sales to ensure unit cost insights are accurately reflected in pricing and market strategies.
- Present competitive unit cost analyses to internal stakeholders, clearly explaining insights, implications, and recommendations.
- Support market‑level affordability and triangulation efforts by synthesizing multiple data sources into a cohesive competitive view.
- Continuously improve analytical approaches, tools, and data quality to increase efficiency, accuracy, and impact.
- Contribute to special projects and cross‑functional initiatives that advance competitive unit cost capabilities and outcomes.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in managed health care, financial analysis, analytics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data.
- Proficiency in Excel and experience working with structured data sets.
- Ability to communicate insights clearly to technical and non‑technical partners.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, matrixed environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
- Experience with provider contracting, pricing, underwriting, or medical economics.
- Familiarity with managed care reimbursement methodologies and claims data.
- Exposure to competitive intelligence or market affordability analytics.
