Role Description

As Portfolio Manager, Product Security, you’ll play a critical role in enabling the secure and reliable delivery of College Board’s highest-priority digital initiatives. This role serves as the connective tissue between Product Security, engineering, program leadership, and key stakeholders across the organization.

  • Ensure that security initiatives are aligned to product roadmaps and organizational priorities.
  • Make risks and dependencies visible early.
  • Aggregate portfolio- and product-level security signals into clear, actionable views.
  • Communicate progress, surface emerging risks, and help leaders make deliberate tradeoffs.
  • Emphasize continuous improvement, disciplined prioritization, and practical risk management.

In this role, you will:

  • Design & Implementation (60%)
    • Aggregate and synthesize portfolio- and product-level security signals.
    • Identify, surface, and help drive resolution of cross-team impediments.
    • Monitor portfolio performance to ensure security investments are delivering measurable risk reduction.
    • Partner with Product Security leadership to drive continuous improvement.
    • Manage security-related budgets and vendor engagements.
  • Strategy & Communication (20%)
    • Own portfolio-level planning, intake, prioritization, and health management.
    • Partner with Product Security, engineering, and program leadership to align security roadmaps.
  • Team Management (20%)
    • Ensure constrained Product Security capacity is applied to the highest-impact work.
    • Track progress against Product Security roadmap commitments and goals.
    • Foster a transparent, respectful working environment.
    • Facilitate portfolio-level planning and operating cadences.

Qualifications

  • 7 or more years of progressively responsible experience coordinating and prioritizing work across multiple security, engineering, or technology teams.
  • A strong understanding of information security principles, security compliance, cloud technologies, and modern enterprise architecture.
  • Experience managing budgets, vendors, and external partners in support of security or technology initiatives.
  • Practical experience working within modern software delivery environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes across teams without direct authority.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and a track record of working effectively across functions.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 3–5 times per year.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
