About the Role

Are you seeking a remote litigation role where you can independently manage cases while being supported by a collaborative legal team?

A rapidly growing law firm is looking for a Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to join its California practice. This role is ideal for attorneys who enjoy taking ownership of their caseload, appearing before the WCAB, and working closely with clients to move claims toward efficient resolutions.

You’ll operate in a fully remote, paperless legal environment while representing employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators across California. If you're interested in building long-term expertise in workers’ compensation defense while working in a modern, flexible practice, this opportunity is for you.

What You'll Do

  • Represent employers, insurers, and TPAs in California workers’ compensation defense matters

  • Appear at WCAB hearings, conferences, and trials

  • Manage a full caseload of active claims

  • Take and defend depositions, including doctor depositions when applicable

  • Draft motions, pleadings, and settlement agreements

  • Conduct legal research on California workers’ compensation statutes and case law

  • Negotiate settlements and drive claims toward resolution

  • Communicate regularly with claims adjusters and clients

  • Collaborate with legal assistants to manage case workflows

  • Prepare for hearings, mediations, and trial proceedings

Who You Are

  • 2–10 years of experience in California workers’ compensation defense

  • Experience appearing before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB)

  • Skilled in taking and defending depositions

  • Trial experience as first or second chair

  • Experience with doctor depositions is a strong advantage

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Active California State Bar license in good standing

  • Able to manage a high-volume caseload remotely

  • Proficient with dictation software and paperless workflows

  • Strong collaboration skills with legal assistants and colleagues

  • Interest in long-term career growth and leadership opportunities

  • Seeking full-time employment without schedule modifications
