Role Description
The Deputy Chief of Programs will oversee the day-to-day work and sharpen the vision and output of the following teams: Economic Freedom, Immigration, State Power, Policy, Data, Electoral and Care.
- Partner closely with the Chief of Programs as a thought-partner and collaborator.
- Manage at least five direct reports and the members of those teams.
- Play a leadership role in the implementation of the organization’s base-building program, including digital organizing.
- Work with Community Change's sister organization, Community Change Action.
Principal Responsibilities
- Serve as a highly skilled strategist and organizer with experience in strategic analysis and managing multiple programs.
- Identify opportunities for alignment and bring program areas together under a cohesive strategy.
- Oversee management of program budgets with support from the Director of Program Compliance and Financial Management.
- Apply experience and knowledge of the organizing landscape to support and develop teams.
- Support organizing staff in the development and monitoring of work plans, campaign plans, and events/actions.
- Manage and train organizing staff, interns, and fellows, ensuring regular supervision and evaluation.
- Represent the organization in key partnerships and coalitions on local, state, and federal levels as needed.
Qualifications
- At least 10 years of demonstrated track record in grassroots movement building.
- Experience creating and implementing a complex organizing strategy.
- Networks and understanding of the organizing context in immigrant rights, economic justice, and/or racial equity.
- Seasoned community organizer and strategist with previous roles in management and program design.
- Skilled facilitator and trainer with experience leading diverse groups.
- Experience with staff management and development.
- Experience overseeing program or campaign budgets.
- Ability to delegate and communicate hard decisions.
- Organizational skills to align team members’ individual goals with a larger strategy.
- Comfort with public speaking and engaging with diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated understanding of how 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and PACs function.
- Ability to communicate effectively via virtual platforms and in person.
