Holthouse Carlin & Van Trigt LLP is seeking a skilled and motivated Legal Counsel to join our legal team. Reporting directly to the General Counsel/Partner, this individual will play a crucial role in providing legal guidance and support across various areas of our operations.
- Provide timely and strategic legal advice on a wide range of legal matters, such as contracts, client matters, privacy, regulatory compliance, licensing, insurance, firm governance, risk management, ethics, and employment matters.
- Conduct legal risk assessments, provide recommendations to colleagues on potential risks and opportunities, and offer proactive solutions to mitigate legal exposure and enhance business efficiency and effectiveness.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the firm’s operations, assessing their impact, and develop and implement compliance strategies and policies to mitigate legal risks.
- Advise colleagues on legal issues, compliance requirements, and best practices designed to promote a culture of risk management, legal awareness, and accountability within the firm.
- Draft, review, and negotiate client engagement agreements, vendor contracts (including SAAS), nondisclosure agreements, data processing addenda, and leases.
- Handle subpoenas for documents and/or depositions or trial testimony.
- Develop, update, and implement firm policies and procedures to ensure alignment with legal and regulatory requirements and to promote ethical conduct and integrity.
- Collaborate with business teams to structure agreements that protect the firm’s interests while supporting commercial objectives.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the California State Bar and in good standing
- 3-6 years of experience practicing law in-house or at a law firm
