The Product Development Specialist III reports to the Portfolio Analytics Manager and is a proactive, detail-oriented, and individually accountable contributor responsible for delivering high-visibility analytical and operational work that informs portfolio, filing, and external vendor decisions. This role partners closely with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to translate complex data into clear, decision-ready insights.

 

Core responsibilities include analyzing vendor-provided data, conducting market and competitive research, supporting regulatory and business filings and manual updates. The Senior Analyst evaluates vendor performance and capabilities, identifies risks and opportunities, and presents findings and recommendations to stakeholders to support partnership and portfolio decisions. This role is expected to serve as a leader among peers and a subject matter expert in vendor data and analytical best practices.

 

 

Location: The successful candidate will work remotely, with preference given to those residing in the following states: WA, OR, ID, MT, WY, AZ, or UT. Candidates must be able to work during our core Pacific Standard Time (PST) business hours and have high-speed internet (an internet speed test is required).

 

Hiring Range: $90,560 - $103,357

Salary Range: $90,560 - $121,156

Responsibilities

  • Independently execute high-visibility analyses and operational deliverables that inform decisions on external vendor partnerships, filings, and portfolio reporting.
  • Analyze and synthesize vendor-provided data, market research, and internal analytics to evaluate vendor performance, capabilities, and strategic fit.
  • Develop clear, decision-ready insights and recommendations that are presented to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to support partner selection and portfolio actions.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for assigned line of business portfolios, vendor data sources, and related processes, with active cross-training across additional lines.
  • Drive and support regulatory and business filings at all stages, including data preparation, manual updates, validation, and documentation.
  • Build strong working relationships and add value across core stakeholder groups (Product, Actuarial, Compliance, Finance, IT, and external partners) through effective communication and analytical influence.

 

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Strong analytical and project management capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of the P&C insurance products and filing process.
  • Knowledge of predictive/pricing modeling methodology and actuarial principles.
  • Knowledge of Underwriting principles, methodology, and general theory.
  • Expert use of PowerPoint & Excel.
  • Knowledge of SQL, SAS, VBA, and other programming/data management strong plus.
  • Translate analysis into coherent presentations and communication.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Actuarial, Business Admin, Mathematics, or related analytic disciplines.
  • 3+ years of P&C experience in personal lines or commercial/farm product management (strongpreference), actuarial, or sales/underwriting, but experience in portfolio-managed products would also be entertained.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance, actuarial principles, modeling, computer science, and data manipulation.
  • All the following would be considered preferred and viewed favorably:
    • Graduate degree and/or related professional designations (Underwriting, Actuarial, Finance).
    • Experience with managing products and interacting with regulatory environments in the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Wyoming, and Arizona.
    • Experience working with an independent agency channel distribution.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, including video conferencing.
