Job Description
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing complex payroll processing and ensuring compliance with all provincial laws, regulations, and union requirements. This role demands accuracy in wage calculations, withholdings, deductions, and changes, while reconciling and identifying risks to prevent issues in accuracy and timeliness. The candidate will make recommendations and take appropriate actions to address identified issues, ensuring compliance with federal, local, state, wage, and hour laws.
Responsibilities
- Process complex payrolls while ensuring compliance with provincial laws and union requirements.
- Maintain accuracy in all wage calculations, withholdings, deductions, and changes.
- Reconcile payroll and identify risks to prevent issues with accuracy and timeliness.
- Make recommendations and take action to address identified payroll issues.
- Ensure compliance with federal, local, state, wage, and hour laws.
- Review payroll processes to align with company philosophy and recommend internal control or efficiency enhancements.
- Create and run requested reports, including year-end data, union fringes, GL data for both US and Canada.
- Identify and implement union updates affecting payroll configuration.
- Maintain required payroll files and records.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Complete bank and tax reconciliations by payroll, quarter, and year.
- Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
Work Environment
This position offers the flexibility to work fully remotely, with standard work hours and additional flexibility as needed. The candidate will be part of a large team, predominantly working remotely, ensuring extensive remote training and consistent team communication.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Baltimore, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.00/hr.
