Superhuman Mail

At Superhuman, we’ve built the fastest email experience in the world — one that's deeply loved and adored by customers who get through their inboxes twice as fast. We incorporate fun and play, infusing magic and joy to create experiences that amaze and delight. It all starts with the right team — a team that deeply cares about values, customers, and each other.
We're not solving a small problem, nor are we addressing a small market. We're reshaping the fundamentals of how people work. We're combining premium product craft with enterprise-scale capabilities to rethink how individuals and teams should fundamentally collaborate. We are building a household brand and a worldwide organization. We are here to do our best work, and we hope you are too.

The Opportunity

You’ll lead design for Superhuman Mail on iOS and Android, shaping the core mobile experience for millions of professionals who rely on email every day. You’ll define how Superhuman's AI-powered features come to life on mobile — from triage and composition to smart scheduling and follow-ups — while maintaining the speed, polish, and delight that Superhuman is known for. Your work will focus on making a power-user email experience feel effortless on smaller screens, through exceptional visual and interaction design.
This is a senior role for a designer who deeply understands mobile platforms, and has strong instincts for how AI can meaningfully augment human productivity. You’ll evolve Superhuman Mail from the fastest desktop email client into an equally indispensable mobile companion that helps users triage, respond, and stay on top of their most important work from anywhere. You’ll partner closely with product managers, engineers, and researchers to push the boundaries of mobile email, ship production-ready experiences, and raise the bar for craft and quality.
In this role, you will:
  • Design best-in-class mobile email experiences: Own the end-to-end design of Superhuman Mail on iOS and Android, including inbox management and email composition, calendar UX, and integration of AI-assisted workflows like Auto Drafts and Write With AI.
  • Make powerful features feel effortless on mobile: Translate Superhuman's desktop power into mobile-native interactions that feel fast, fluid, and intuitive.
  • Set the bar for craft: Drive mobile design quality, from interaction concepts and systems design to highly polished execution.
  • Invent new mobile interaction patterns: Explore paradigms beyond traditional mobile email: gesture-driven triage, AI-powered composition, real-time workflows, and more.
  • Prototype, test, and iterate rapidly: Use prototypes to explore, validate assumptions, and learn what truly helps users manage email and stay productive on the go.
  • Influence product strategy: Partner deeply with PMs and engineers to shape mobile product direction, tradeoffs, and sequencing in a fast-evolving landscape.
  • Be part of a supportive team: Work alongside a collaborative group of designers who give thoughtful feedback, share ideas openly, and help each other grow.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant product design experience, with demonstrated impact on mobile-first or mobile-native products on iOS and/or Android.
  • Proven ability to design clear, scalable, and delightful mobile user experiences that simplify complex workflows.
  • Deep understanding of mobile platform conventions, with an eye for when to follow them and when to push beyond them.
  • Experience and curiosity with AI-powered products, including designing for trust, speed, and user control on mobile.
  • Comfort working end-to-end, from early discovery and wireframes to high-fidelity designs, prototypes, and shipped products.
  • Strong collaborator with a bias to action. Excited by the opportunity to create clarity when the direction is ambiguous.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently. Able to proactively manage priorities across multiple projects, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and thrive in fast-paced, results-driven environments.
  • Portfolio showing senior-level problem framing, interaction design, and high-quality execution.
  • Location: We're open to you joining us in our San Francisco, Seattle, or New York offices, or from a home office anywhere in the United States or Canada.

Compensation and benefits

Superhuman offers all team members competitive pay along with a benefits package encompassing the following and more:

  • Excellent health care (including a wide range of medical, dental, vision, mental health, and fertility benefits)
  • Disability and life insurance options
  • 401(k) and RRSP matching
  • Paid parental leave
  • 20 days of paid time off per year, 12 days of paid holidays per year, two floating holidays per year, and flexible sick time
  • Generous stipends (including those for caregiving, pet care, wellness, your home office, and more)
  • Annual professional development budget and opportunities

Superhuman takes a market-based approach to compensation, which means base pay may vary depending on your location. Our US locations are categorized into two compensation zones based on proximity to our hub locations.  In Canada, all locations where we support employment are considered “Zone 1”.
