Job Description

Senior Pharmacy Technician supports SMG clinicians and pharmacists by preparing and triaging prescription refill requests received through Epic, MyChart, fax, and phone encounters. The role focuses on accuracy, efficiency, and patient safety, ensuring refill requests are complete, appropriate, and routed correctly for pharmacist or clinician review. 

 

The Senior Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician provides expertise in supporting Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy practice.  In addition to the regular Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician duties and direct patient interactions, this role is key to supporting both caregivers and the department leadership meeting clinical and operational goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Upon hire: Washington Pharmacy Technician License 
  • Within 2 years of hire: National Certified Pharmacy Technician certification within 2 years of hire as applicable. 
  • 4 years Pharmacy Technician experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training Pharmacy technician program (may be required in some states for pharmacy technicians)
  • 1 year Customer Service experience
  • 1 year or more of work experience in Ambulatory pharmacy setting with high stress or high volume service.
  • 1 year or more of prior authorizations, financial assistance, patient interviewing.
  • 1 year or more of EMR and Pharmacy Information System, patient monitoring devices, and vitals collection.
  • 1 year or more of processing prescription renewals.

Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position.  The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
