USA TODAY Sports is seeking a dynamic women’s sports content creator who is plugged into social media and the conversation around women's sports and its fans. The successful candidate will be creating content with a social-first mentality across myriad platforms. They will be fluent in social trends and deliver compelling, exclusive content across the professional and college landscape at the speed of news while working on narratives that support the growing women’s sports appetite around the country. The writer will work collaboratively with our Studio IX editors and reporters across USA TODAY’s network. They will tasked with bringing an audience to our platform from social media and delivering a consistent flow of content to meet reader needs in the moment.
The writer will produce content on multiple mediums, including website, vertical and horizontal video and on various social media platforms.
The ideal candidate will have dynamic writing ability, sources and the ability to write quickly and with impact about the biggest story in any sport. We want an ambitious and curious reporter who is unafraid to tackle complex topics and writes with authority and precision.
At least five years of social media and reporting experience is required to succeed in this role.
This role is remote and can be based anywhere in the US, except for Alaska and Hawaii.
Responsibilities:
- Consistently deliver compelling content on the biggest story of the day while simultaneously working with editors and reporters to deliver off-platform content across multiple mediums.
- Shape coverage based on historical success and adapt based on readership metrics and audience needs.
- Proactively ideate and anticipate the next big story or viral moment.
- Collaborate with USA TODAY Network sports leaders to move news forward.
- Create content with high utility on multiple mediums, including Instagram and YouTube.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least five years of delivering high-impact journalism digital content and multimedia platforms.
- Experience navigating sensitive news with precision, clarity and tact.
- Strong social media skills and a willingness to adapt to new mediums.
- Strong competitive instincts and intellectual curiosity.
- Command of media law and Principles of Ethical Conduct.

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $55,500 and $86,719. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable.
