Tasks
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineering Manager with strong expertise in AWS and GCP to lead data architecture initiatives and manage distributed teams. This role requires someone who has successfully managed both onshore and offshore teams and can bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions.
You will play a critical role in designing scalable data platforms, optimizing ETL pipelines, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Architecture & Engineering
- Design and maintain modern data architectures including data warehouses, data lakes, and scalable cloud-based storage solutions.
- Develop data models, schemas, and metadata frameworks ensuring integrity and consistency.
- Select and implement the right technologies for ETL, analytics, and reporting solutions.
2. ETL Design & Optimization
- Build and optimize robust ETL pipelines across multiple data sources.
- Improve pipeline performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Implement strong data quality frameworks and monitoring mechanisms.
3. Business Intelligence & Analytics
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytics requirements.
- Translate functional requirements into scalable technical designs.
- Lead the development of dashboards, visualizations, and reports that enable strategic decision-making.
4. Technical Leadership
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers across onshore and offshore locations.
- Conduct architecture reviews and code reviews.
- Drive best practices in cloud-based data engineering.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies in cloud, ETL, and BI.
5. Data Governance & Security
- Establish data governance standards and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations.
6. Project & Stakeholder Management
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource planning.
- Communicate progress, risks, and updates to leadership and clients.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- Strong background in data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and ETL frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools such as AWS Glue, Talend, or Informatica.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with large-scale data processing.
- Experience with BI tools like QlikSense, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Deep understanding of cloud platforms – AWS and GCP.
- Experience working with data lakes and big data ecosystems.
- GCP certification is a plus.
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Proven experience managing onshore and offshore teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while leading collaborative teams.
- Strong mentoring and people development mindset.
Experience Required
- 10+ years of experience in Data Warehousing, ETL, and BI environments.
- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-level data architectures.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing cross-functional and distributed teams.
