Job Description
Role Description
We're hiring a Head of Engineering to own engineering execution, technical architecture, and cloud infrastructure across a mission-critical SaaS platform.
- Lead and mentor a team of ~6 full-stack engineers plus a BA/Product Manager
- Serve as the senior technical decision-maker across architecture and platform direction
- Own cloud infrastructure and application reliability (Azure)
- Drive ongoing modernization, including migration from legacy Perl to .NET
- Balance technical debt reduction with new feature delivery
- Partner closely with executive leadership on prioritization, roadmap tradeoffs, and exit readiness
- Support light API integrations across products and workflows
- Bring a product-oriented mindset to engineering planning and execution
- Evaluate emerging technologies (including AI) in a regulated, sensitive-data environment
This role is not day-to-day coding, but it does require technical depth, architectural judgment, and the ability to dive in when needed.
Qualifications
- Proven engineering leadership experience (Director, VP, or equivalent)
- Strong systems-level and architectural thinking
- Experience owning cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred)
- SaaS product development background
- Comfort leading teams through legacy-to-modern transitions
- Ability to scope work, prioritize effectively, and make pragmatic tradeoffs
Requirements
- Experience in regulated or compliance-driven software (GovTech, GRC, cybersecurity, healthcare, fintech)
- Product-minded approach to engineering leadership
- API and systems integration experience
- Curiosity about applied AI in secure environments
Benefits
- Base: ~$190,000–$200,000 (flexible for standout candidates)
- Bonus: ~20%
- Total Cash: ~$240,000–$250,000

- Considered: Dallas, Atlanta, Charlotte, or Austin
- Willingness to travel to Tallahassee regularly is required
