Role Description
The Manager, Accounts Receivable & Treasury will lead the company’s end-to-end collections strategy and oversee short-term and medium-range liquidity management in a complex, fast-growing, private-equity-backed environment. This role is critical to optimizing cash conversion, mitigating credit risk, and ensuring the company maintains adequate liquidity to support operations, growth initiatives, and debt service obligations. The role partners closely with Finance, Sales, Client Services, and Executive Leadership to drive disciplined cash management, transparent forecasting, and scalable processes.
- Own and continuously improve the enterprise-wide collections strategy across a diverse client base, including law firms, insurance carriers and direct-bill corporate partners.
- Establish and enforce AR policies, billing standards, and collection escalation frameworks to optimize DSO and reduce bad debt exposure.
- Partner cross-functionally to resolve aged receivables while preserving client relationships.
- Develop and manage segmentation strategies for high-risk, high-balance, or strategic accounts.
- Lead AR reporting cadence, including aging analysis, cash forecasting inputs, and trend analysis for executive key stakeholder reporting.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms, client-specific billing requirements, and internal credit policies.
- Monitor and manage daily, weekly, and monthly cash positions across operating accounts and legal entities.
- Provide forward-looking cash insights to support operational planning and capital allocation decisions.
- Partner with FP&A to align liquidity forecasts with operating budgets and growth initiatives.
- Support debt covenant monitoring, lender reporting, and borrowing base calculations where applicable.
- Recommend strategies to optimize working capital, including payment terms, billing cycles, and cash concentration structures.
- Design and maintain strong internal controls over cash receipts, AR reconciliations, and treasury activities.
- Own AR subledger integrity and ensure timely reconciliation to the general ledger.
- Lead system enhancements and automation efforts related to billing, collections, cash application, and treasury reporting.
- Partner with IT and Finance teams to scale AR and treasury processes alongside business growth.
- Ensure audit readiness for internal, external, and lender review.
- Lead, mentor, and develop AR and treasury team members, establishing clear performance metrics and accountability.
- Act as a strategic partner to senior leadership, providing clear, concise insights into cash performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Serve as a key point of contact for external stakeholders, including banks, auditors, and PE sponsors, as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (CPA a plus but not required).
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounts receivable, treasury, or working capital management.
- Prior experience in a private-equity-backed or fast-growth environment strongly preferred.
- Experience in professional services, legal services, or project-based billing models highly desirable.
- Deep understanding of cash flow forecasting, AR aging dynamics, and credit risk management.
- Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and financial reporting tools; experience with large-scale AR automation preferred (High Radius a plus).
- Strong knowledge of internal controls, audit requirements, and financial reporting processes.
- Proven ability to formalize processes and implement scalable systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project-management skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and growing organization.
