Role Description
The Technical Leader for Nuclear Island Mechanical Systems Applications will be part of a multi-discipline applications engineering team of dedicated engineers responsible for the deployment of GVH SMR plant technology (e.g. BWRX-300 Standard Plant) across multiple US and international sites.
In this position, you will provide technical leadership for nuclear island mechanical systems engineering activities supporting SMR site applications within a coordinated EPC project delivery framework.
- Drive on time and on budget delivery of quality engineering technical products.
- Identify risks, scope gaps, and execution challenges to drive mitigation strategies.
- Lead and coordinate a small team of mechanical systems engineers.
- Ensure effective workload planning and resource utilization.
- Work at the intersection of site applications engineering, team leadership, engineering project development, and engineering performance management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical systems engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in the nuclear industry or equivalent large scale power generation industry.
Requirements
- Eligibility to work at the GEH Headquarters Wilmington, NC or highly qualified remote candidates will be considered.
- This role may require access to U.S. export-controlled information.
Desired Qualifications
- Leadership experience within an EPC project delivery model executing a full project execution lifecycle.
- Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer registration in one or more states.
- Strong knowledge of nuclear mechanical systems design principles.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt mechanical systems designs to new codes, standards, and regulations.
- Familiarity with nuclear mechanical codes and standards such as ASME, ANSI/ANS, etc.
- Knowledge of diverse regulatory schemes (e.g., US NRC, CNSC, IAEA, etc.).
- Working knowledge of earned value management principles.
- Strong sense of engineering scope ownership and ability to drive successful team performance.
- Proven ability to be a liaison between organizations operating in separate geographic locations.
- High performing individual with demonstrated ability to deliver results.
- Proven interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to think strategically.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team of highly experienced engineers.
- Experience with project management skillset (communication, risk, planning/scheduling, change management).
- EPC experience and knowledge; specifically, power plant.
- Understanding of nuclear industry and technology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
